Teachers and students "L3RN" something new

Created by a project team of the Seattle Public Schools, L3RN (pronounced "learn") is an online video/audio/document-sharing tool that allows teachers from different schools to share information and have discussions. The website is categorized by topic (Early Childhood Education, Math, English Language Learners, etc.) as well as by media type. You can find everything from YouTube style videos to ppt presentations to ipod songs (part of a student project where kids imagined what historical figures might have had on their ipods).
Right now, only teachers can post to L3RN. But in the fall, the district plans to add another online system to L3RN called Medley -- a social-networking site comparable to MySpace. It will allow students to have personal homepages with online journals, messages and ways to even post their homework online. Buckle your seatbelt folks. There's no stopping this ride on the innovative education wave. Read the full article for more. |
