Teacher Gives Out Medals to Kids to Remind Them to Keep At It

In a marathon, it's not that you come in first, but that you finish. This is a good story from The Everett Herald about that concept.

It strikes me as a more appropriate award than paying kids for grades, as is the plan in New York City's public school system. This New York Times opinion piece seems to agree with me.
