This is a cool contest, based in Vermont, called the Global Challenge.
Basically, teams of kids from the US are matched with counterparts in Japan, China and around the world to compete in a science competition that not only wins them scholarships, but hones their skills on an international level.
While driving into work Friday, I heard of another contest that Discover Magazine is holding. Not quite a global science competition, but it is for kids to design the cover of the magazine's October issue, which will deal with science curricula in the U.S.
