Science Contest Puts US Kids on Int'l Field

This is a cool contest, based in Vermont, called the Global Challenge.

Basically, teams of kids from the US are matched with counterparts in Japan, China and around the world to compete in a science competition that not only wins them scholarships, but hones their skills on an international level.

While driving into work Friday, I heard of another contest that Discover Magazine is holding. Not quite a global science competition, but it is for kids to design the cover of the magazine's October issue, which will deal with science curricula in the U.S.

Deadlines

Looked through the Web site to see if there were any local students in the Global Challenge competition, and couldn't find the right page, although I'm sure we have some. If you know of any local kids in this, e-mail me. I'd love to talk to them.   As for the art competition on the Discover Magazine piece, the deadline for that is June 20.
