During our focus groups last month, many parents said they wanted to help their kids with their homework, but didn't know where to turn.   There's an event next week that you should try to go to if you have any interest at all in helping kids with their homework, brainstorming with teachers and generally learning about math taught to students in Washington's schools. Called  "Partnering for Student Success" the event is sponsored by the Partnership, but also be the U.S. Department of Education, Washington Appleseed, the state Commission for African American Affairs, and the Washington State PTA.   The sessions begin at 3 pm at the Seattle Sheraton on Jan. 11 and wrap up at 9 pm. Topics include What Parents Need to Know About School Mathematics; What It Takes to Graduate; Families Achieving Math Standards and What is Parent Involvement.   For more info, call 360-725-6165.
