Hats off to Raytheon and MathMovesU!

When I was in middle school, I thought
Math MovesU was created by Raytheon, an aerospace systems supplier that hopes to get the next generation of engineers and technologists excited about math. Worried about the sharp decrease in the number of US citizens graduating college with engineering degrees, Raytheon wanted to target this problem right where it starts: in middle school, when students are most likely to lose interest in math.
Exploring the site, I channeled my inner 12-year-old (which
wasn’t really that hard) and found it very engaging with games,
polls, facts and sample problems set in the realms of music,
fashion and sports. You can even choose a character to
represent yourself as you explore the site.
Hats off to Raytheon’s MathMovesU for creating a seriously
cool way to engage students and get them interested in math! |
