Gregoire Talks About Education Budget

Just back from the state PTSA convention in SeaTac. My fellow board members are still partying I think. (:

The highlight of the day was Gov. Christine Gregoire almost sprinting into the ballroom. Attired in a yellow jump suit, she gave a quick summary of this year's budget debate on ed funding (while slipping in that while she's always glad to see the lawmakers arrive, she's just as glad to see them leave.)

She promoted LASER, funding for professional development for teachers, esp. math and science teachers and making sure that all students have a chance at success through a connected K-20 system. Well, that doesn't exist yet, but it should, she told the group. Didn't bring up the WASL fight, which is still going on, but I can't blame her. This isn't exactly a WASL-friendly group.
