Governor to Speak Out About Early Learning and Math

Or at least I think that's what she's going to say after reading today's Spokesman-Review article that both recaps State Superintendent's Terry Bergeson's address on Thursday and talks about what Christine Gregiore is going to talk about in 30 minutes here at the WSSDA conference.
Apparently she talked with the Olympia reporters yesterday, both giving a recap of her talk at the Washington Learns Ed Summit on Tuesday, and sprinkling in a few ideas that I haven't heard about yet. First, she told reporters that her "significant downpayment" on the state's ed system will not mean a tax increase.
Next came the usual suspects. All-day kindergarten will be a priority. More spending on math and science programs. Improving teacher pay, and of course, coming up with a statewide math curriculum.
A couple of things I hadn't heard her stress before: Decreasing class size and developing a statewide science curriculum. Which I assume means LASER? She also wants to create an assessment for incoming kindergarteners and a 7 percent cap on college tuition increases.
