Remember way back in May when the legislature passed HB 2261 and redefined Washington's definition of basic education? Well, that redefinition can't happen overnight, which is why the state is forming the Quality Education Council (QEC). The purpose of the QEC is to develop strategic recommendations for implementation of a new definition of basic education and the financing necessary to support it.

And now, you can follow the QEC--which meets tomorrow for the first time (and TVW is an option!)--at OSPI's website. You can also join a Listserv for updates on the QEC's progress by following the instructions below:

To subscribe to the Listserv, simply send an email to listserv@listserv.wa.gov with ONLY the text SUBSCRIBE QEC-UPDATES in the subject line and body of the email. Please do not include any sort of signature in the body of the email. In order to complete the subscription process, you must check your email and confirm that you would like to subscribe. Confirmation is done by replying to the email and typing “ok” in the body (without quotations) or by clicking on the provided confirmation link. You may need to check your junk/spam folder if you do not receive an email asking for confirmation.
