There is great work being done to improve science education in Washington State and as we continue to focus on this impotant subject, more is sure to come. Check back with us soon as we will continue to provide updates on these key efforts.
Washington State LASER
Working in conjunction with nine regional alliances across the state, LASER is a public-private partnership led by Pacific Science Center, Battelle and OSPI. LASER helps school districts implement an ongoing, K-12 inquiry-based science program, aligned with the Washington State Grade Level Expectations in science.
North Cascades and Olympic Science Partnership (NCOSP)
NCOSP is a powerful example of a successful multi-district partnership between K-12 and higher education. This group has a deliberate focus on building strong teacher leaders through high quality instructional materials, aligned assessments and research-based professional development. Encouraging increases in WASL scores for the 26 participating districts have gained the attention of other regions in Washington looking to replicate this model.
