"Our education system is falling flat." That's what head honcho Randall Stephenson, chairman and CEO of AT&T, told the National Governors Association at their annual meeting. Eric Schmidt, chairman and CEO of Google, echoed his sentiments.
As this article reports, these two high-tech giants said that their states are not doing enough to educate students for technology-heavy jobs.
But our education system isn't the only thing that's flat. As Thomas Friedman's now almost clichéd book title proclaims, so is the world. And unfortunately for Stephenson who wants to bring back 4,000 jobs that have been outsourced to India (flat, flat, flat), his agreement with AT&T's union to do so is struggling.
"We're struggling to find qualified candidates to fill those 4,000 jobs," said Stephenson.
Sounds like what we all need is a little inflation.
